  • For the last couple of days I have been obsessing about planning for my Annual Prime Rib Christmas Dinner Party. It’s a tradition I started several Christmases ago.

Van Ness Ave. San Francisco, CA9. I have been dreaming about coming here for YEARS. Never had the chance to. So many of my friends had been going here and all i get to do is see the prices go higher and higher. We had made a reservation 1- 2 months prior to our visit, even before we had bought our plane tickets.

Food priority right? HAHA ! We had reserved a table of 5 for 0. Slow Cooker Turkey Chili on this page. PM on a saturday night. We had arrived shortly before the time having the car parked by valet ($1. Upon arrival, my best friend had went up to the counter to confirm our arrival and request a roomier table, because we had brought her grandmother to dinner with us. Apparently last time, they were stuck in a corner in a table for 2, forced to have a 3rd person.

The secret to cooking a Prime Rib Roast is starting with USDA Prime. Sear-in the juices at 425 Degrees for 15 minutes then slow-roast at 325 degrees to the desired. 2-3 lbs. leftover Cooked Prime Rib Roast; 6 ciabatta sandwich rolls; 1 recipe beef au jus; 1 recipe fresh grated horseradish; Beef Au Jus (serves 6 - 10).

Not so comfy. We were seated actually pretty promptly in the middle of the first dining room in a table seated for 6. Waiter had come up fairly quick and fresh sourdough bread and butter were put on each side of the table. Service so fast ! AND to our surprise, the famous "cart" with all the meat, was RIGHT NEXT TO US ! Talk about front row seating ! Woohoo ! Their menu is fairly simple.

You don't see many of these types of restaurants that specialize in literally almost only 1 thing in this country. Menu (and prices as of 1. Roast Prime Rib of Beef- -.

5940 reviews of House of Prime Rib "More fun than should be allowed at a steakhouse! My view of House of Prime Rib is that it's San Francisco's answer to Tampa's. Step by step recipe instructions for prime rib or standing rib roast complete with photographs and reader comments and discussion.

Fresh cream of horseradish sauce (available in light, medium, and hot). Since it was the first time coming here, and im a piggy, of course i opted for the King Henry VIII Cut at medium rare doneness with mashed potatoes, half creamed spinach, and half creamed corn. The King Henry VIII cut comes with a rib bone. After you finish this, they offer a small thin slice as "seconds" : D damn ! SECONDS?! you get seconds?!

As mentioned before, the sourdough bread came first. Whole loaf of bread with a stick of butter. Nice warm crusty sourdough bread fresh out of the oven. YUM ! Next came the salad.

Chopped salad mixed table side with a mild show (varies per waiter). Chopped lettuce and other greens with julienned beets mixed with their unique sauce.

Leftover Prime Rib

I couldn't figure out what their dressing was close to. Definitely unique. I inhaled mine before everyone else was half way through. HAHA ! HELLO KING HENRY VIII !

Huge cut of prime rib with a side of creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and a separate side dish of creamed corn. Lets talk about the sides first. The creamed spinach was eh. Quite bland. Creamy but needed some salt.

Mashed potatoes with a dark brown rich gravy. Its mashed potatoes. What can go wrong? Creamed corn, fairly large kernels of corn. Probably the best of the 3 but best friend whos came here before says all 3 are not as good as she had it last time.

OH HELLO KING HENRY VIII ! LOL THE BEST prime rib ive ever had. Perfectly medium rare. Super tender. Cuts like butter without any strength and stroke of the knife. The au jus was very flavorful ! Also the best au jus ive had.

The meat around the bone was very fatty. As some may know, prime rib is just a USDA Prime grade rib eye roast. So as with a rib eye, theres that cube of fat between the eye and the deckle/spinalis/cap. This is the first time where i portioned that cube of fat to eat with the meat. OH MAN YUM YUM ! The rib of clean.

Meat was gone. OH yorkshire pudding was pretty decent too. Much larger than i had imagined it to be. Very airy soft "bread" with a strong egg flavor which soaks up the au jus fairly well.

YUM ! Personally, i used a mix of medium and hot horseradish. Hot was like pure horseradish.

Medium had some cream mixed. Good amount. Used up the hot pretty much. They give you like 1/2 of what they'd give for the other two.

As mentioned earlier.. SECONDS ! thinly sliced portion on a NEW PLATE with a ton of au jus, similar to the english cut. Not my favorite cut. But still yummy. A MUST TRY ! MUST TRY ! GO GO GO GOMore fun than should be allowed at a steakhouse! My view of House of Prime Rib is that it's San Francisco's answer to Tampa's Berns steakhouse.

We arrived last minute without a reservation, gasp! Waited almost 2 hours for two seats at the bar!

Well worth the trip as well as the wait! We entertained throughout the wait however, by a woman who sat at the bar had everything from soup to nuts, then proceeded to ask for a manager to complain that her steak a. It was appalling. The service at the bar was incredible. The prime rib was over the top good. Dessert drinks everything no complaints here. My next trip to San Francisco will include a reservation at the house of prime rib to experience the full on service!

Well done, the experience not the meat!! We came to House of Prime Rib after reading reviews and hearing about it from friends. So before we left for San Francisco, we made sure we made reservations.

We got in 1. 5 minutes before our reservation and decided to sit at the bar. The bar had beautiful seating which included a fireplace. We waited by the fireplace and sipped on some wine while we waited for out table. The place is pretty relaxing and a nice place to have a romantic dinner. How perfect for us honeymooners! Right at 5pm, the host came and showed us to our table. Our waiter came by with the menu and explained how it works.

It is a simple menu. The prime rib is the same, it just depends how you want it cut.

All the cuts come with a baked potato or mashed potato and creamed spinach. Before the main course, we were treated by a really cool display of the salad serving.

Our waiter asked us to choose our weapon and began spinning the salad. He added seasoning, dressing and made it into a show! The salad was delish.

It tasted creamy and reminded me of a mix of spicy italian and thousand island. Our waiter came by after we finished and introduced the chef who cut the prime rib in front of us.

It was the perfect cut of prime rib. The sides went so well with it too. Everything tasted so good, it was like I was in carnivore heaven. For dessert, our waiter surprised us with a photo of our visit and the fantasy cake with a candle on it to celebrate our honeymoon! The fantasy cake had a layer of chocolate and cheesecake. My husband also ordered the pecan pie with ice cream.

We loved everything! The service, the atmosphere, the food! Everything was amazing.

This is a definite must try if you are in San Francisco. Make sure to make reservations ahead. They are always booked! My boyfriends favorite spot in the city for prime rib has become my favorite too. I am usually not a fan of anything like prime rib or steak but this place has gotten me to enjoy the flavors of well aged prime rib. Their beautiful roast is aged delicately for 2. This allows all that unwanted toughness to break down and become the beautiful roast they serve.

It is usually jam packed here and it is wise to make a reservation around a month ahead of time. If you have a small party of two, you usually can get there before they open and put your name on the list.
